TLC ?? Have you heard of it ?
If you haven’t heard of it then may be you are following a wrong blog.
TLC is widely considered as one of the favourite Travel and lifestyles Channels of the world. And as i am someone who lives on food and travel and everything associated with it , i am a big fan of it.
Now you know , why you must follow the channel.
Surprisingly , TLC doesn’t stand for travel or living, it does showcase a lot of it however, TLC is an abbreviation of “The learning Channel” , by which name it was known in the US before it turned from a niche viewership based channel to a more mass appealing channel and in due course became a part of Discovery Network.
Being The Learning Channel , it still imparts a lot of learning to people like us ,who are fond of food , cooking , chefs , travel and lifestyle and thus its time we should be excited again as the New Season of “The Taste ” is coming on air, and this time with more attractions than before.
#TheTasteOnTLC Is a reality cooking show which is being hosted and mentored by 4 of the world’s most loved and renowned chefs namely Anthony Bourdain , Nigella Lucy Lawson ,Ludo Lefebvre And the new addition to the dream lineup is Chef Marcus Samuelsson.
If you don’t know at least two out of these 4 chefs ,then you are following a wrong blog i say, because though all 4 chefs needs no introduction , however , when it comes to food show hosting , you don’t get better veterans than Nigella & Tony ( Anthony).
Chef Ludo Lefebvre is as french a chef can get ,this burgundy born chef thrives on fundamentals and techniques being key factors for his success in the kitchen and is the attraction to his followers, ( For uninitiated , he is The Rahul Dravid of Cooking with temper of a Virat Kohli ).
Marcuss Samuelsson , is an enigma in US, Being an ethiopian by birth , and brought up by his foster parents in sweden , Marcuss is one of the most loved chefs in New York and the rest of the world. His restaurant , Red rooster is known to be a favourite amongst the bigwigs of America , which also made him raise $1.5 million for Democratic national committee selling a $30,800 a plate menu, which President obama attended.
Anthony bourdain is my favourite. He is unabashed ,he is outdoorsy , he is a risk taker , and a myth shaker, and when it comes to food , he holds “No Reservations”. Being a hotelier , i am his big fan, His TV series “No Reservations” got me hooked to watching Food and travel channels on TV and his Book ” Kitchen Confidential” is the book i am currently reading. The Book is an Epic for the industry and the enthusiasts alike.
Nigella Lucy Lawson , is the Madhuri Dixit of food show presenters , She exudes confidence through her hearty work in kitchen and being a home chef , she has enthralled the world of foodies through her easy going approach and to many like myself , has also bowled them over with her beautiful looks just how Madhuri did.
She is an ideal home cook , she is not the one to shy off from using fat or sugar in her preparations , so while butter is her favourite ingredient , she believes if you cook something sweet , you need to seduce with it. she always does.
I think i have sold it.
It can’t get better for a foodie than to see these four bigwigs standing head to head in a culinary battle of epic proportions. with series of home and professional chefs impressing the mentors with their dishes , style & ideology of cooking and then picking the mentor to join their respective teams, of course mentor has to choose you first.
Its a show which you must watch for your love of cooking as well as to gain some interesting insights into the minds and lives of few of the best chefs of our lifetime. Having already watched the premiere episode aired on 11th may on TLC, I can assure you will have a great time , unless you have realized that you are following a wrong blog.
Show is Aired on TLC on Monday-tuesday at 9PM.

A Note of Thank & Appreciation to Olive Bar & Kitchen
As the Preface of the show , I was invited to attend a Blogger’s table at Olive @Qutub and it was a great evening full of fun and food, and some blind tastings.
It was beautiful executed as we watched the premiere show of ” The Taste” and then indulged in some blind tastings and tried to decipher dishes made by an extremely talented team of Chefs at Olive.
Illusion in taste and detailing on each ingredient cooked was the highlight of the experience for me, so while we kept guessing the ingredients and rare flavours like raw mango , tuna which looked like watermelon , tobacco , parsnips , so many flavours playing subtle yet intrinsic role on how the dishes creates magic on your palate.
Chef Dhruv Oberoi presided over the show , and i can say , we all had a great time. To read TLC’s Twitter handle tweeting that “Sidharth Bhan is nailing it at the Blind Tasting” just made the Raw Mangoes taste sweeter than the Chef Intended.
Dhruv was kind to introduce me to The most talked about New Flavour at Olive, which is Chef Sujan Sarkar , and a 10 mins interaction and showcase of his Tasting Laboratory was enough to gain an insight to his ideology of Culinary Art. He follow no cuisine , he treats ingredients in the best way he can , with careful detailing presenting dishes which are as much as a piece of art as it is the showcase of fine techniques of cooking.
Will try and keep you posted on developments at Olive Kitchen , while we all now gear up to the New Season of #TheTasteOnTLC.
Whose team are you in ?
