Sbarro recently organized a fun event called “Man vs Pizza “ at their Connaught place outlet, where participants were bloggers teamed up with a friend who would work as a techie and tweet about the live happenings of the fiercely fought competition of eating as much as possible as fast as possible.
As much as i realized how tough it is to eat quickly while competing with others , i realized that some foodies takes real pride in eating like a monster , or as i observed they take to eating like a lawnmower takes to a bushy garden, it’s so much fun to watch and i must tell you from my experience of being a slow eater , that it’s no fun job eating quickly.
Competitive eating is a sport , and if i compare it to bollywood , i am the jacky bhagnani of it. basically i am good for nothing. haha
However , Hats off to all the participants , especially my dear friend Sudipto De ( Founder- Salt & Sandals) who ate so well even the sumo wrestler behind him was surprised. No doubt Sudipto’s team won the contest and finished almost 2 super huge pizzas( i couldn’t even finish 1 ).
Event was well organized , and yes , it was fun , and definitely a new experience for myself. It raised some alarms prior to the event as foodie’s eyes always lit up to such events , and the competitive edge it brings with it. further it’s great fun to know how much one can eat , to watch them eat is an altogether different level of fun.
Event was great fun and had a great energy , however , that brings with it certain topics for me to understand in detail and understand various different ways PR Companies , Food MNC’s and other hospitality establishments are connecting with their customers and giving them a glimpse of their products , a brand recall or an image build up , or many other purposes that can be filled through various different interesting events and showcases being organized.
Few questions in my mind :
1. What are the various methods used by establishments today to attract/ engage their customers ?
2. What various value additions it bring back to the food establishment and how it helps in satisfying (wowing) their customers ?
3. Can we innovate and create new nouvelle methods of brand promotion / customer engagement ?
4. What are the things to keep in mind while creating & executing such events and promotional campaigns ?
This is a broadline on which i am thinking right now, and i shall tread deeper into the topic , hoping i can come up with some meaningful analysis.
This Topic pertains to us all , customers , restaurant’s management , public relation companies , owners , bloggers , employees and each one of you who reads the blog and follow hospitality industry.
Thus , i urge you to share your views with us . we would be happy to understand your views and discuss the same. it’ll go a long way in helping us come out with an improved analysis.
